Imagine a ferocious thunderstorm, with constant booming and lightning strikes hitting and reflecting in the waters of Puget Sound. Or the opposite...the silence and stillness of the slow growth of new leaves in spring or the evolution of seedpods through the summer. These are the subjects that inspire me and that I work to capture in my art.
My 2 and 3D pieces are usually solid machine stitching on painted canvas or heat manipulated fabric stitched to painted canvas, with colors gradually changing along the piece. These methods enable me to capture the motion, energy, texture and color I see in my inspiration in ways I can’t do with another medium.
